目に見えないイオンの存在を可視化し、
STEAMの視点を取り入れた教材｢世界に一つだけの金属樹ボトル」。
これは、硝酸銀を溶かした寒天溶液に銅を入れることで、イオン化傾向のはたらきにより銀が金属樹として析出することを利用した教材です。
従来の試験管内で金属樹を作る方法は、振動により金属樹が崩壊しますが、高さ5cmの小さなボトルと寒天を用いることで金属樹が固定され、立体的な金属樹を作成することが可能となります。
※STEAMとは、Science、Technology、Engineering、Art、Mathematicsの頭文字を取った言葉のことです。
Visualizing the existence of invisible ions and incorporating the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) perspective, we have created the educational material titled "Unique Metal Tree Bottle."
This material utilizes the phenomenon of silver metal precipitating as a metal tree through the effect of ionization tendencies by immersing copper into an agar solution containing silver nitrate.
Unlike traditional methods of creating metal trees within test tubes, where the metal trees collapse due to vibrations, this educational material employs a small bottle measuring 5cm in height and agar to securely fix the metal tree, allowing for the creation of three-dimensional metal trees.
Note: STEAM refers to the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.

【事前準備】寒天溶液の調整

寒天0.3gを量り、精製水100mLに入れます。
Please measure 0.3g of powdered agar-agar.

ガスバーナーで加熱します。
Please heat it using a gas burner.
03
沸騰して透明になったら、50℃程度まで冷まします。
Once it reaches a boiling point and becomes transparent, please cool it down.
金属樹ボトルの作成①

薬包紙を用いて、硝酸銀0.2gを電子天秤で量ります。
Please measure 0.2g of silver nitrate.

こぼさないように、スクリュー管に入れます。
Let's put it into the test tube.

精製水を約1mL入れて溶かします。
Let's dissolve it by adding approximately 1ml of water.
金属樹ボトルの作成②

銅は2.5mmの正方形に切っておきます。
pre-cut the copper into squares measuring 2.5mm on each side.

こぼさないように気をつけながら、寒天溶液をボトルに入れます。
Please pour the agar solution into the bottle.
06
銅を入れて静かに放置します。
数日で金属樹が成長します。
Please place the copper inside and let it sit undisturbed.

注意点
硝酸銀は強い酸化剤であり、皮膚などの有機物との接触で還元反応が進行し、固体の銀が生成されます。
以下の注意点を確認してください。
硝酸銀が皮膚に触れると生成された銀が皮膚に入り込み、黒く変色してしまうので、必ず保護メガネとビニール手袋をして実験を行いましょう。
（大抵は３日～１週間程度でもとに戻ります。）
万が一こぼれてしまったときのために、トレイの上で実験を行いましょう。
硝酸銀がこぼれてしまった場合も絶対に素手で触ってはいけません。
金属樹ボトルには酸性溶液や金属が含まれているため、自宅に持ち帰らせることはしないようにしましょう。
また、処分する際は、自治体のルールに従ってください。
金属樹の生成には数日要すします。なお、褐色部分が現れることもありますが、銅イオンのはたらきにより次第に液は淡青色になり、透明度が増していきます。
